Ganges Harbor - time to celebrate!

One boat in our group has to head back to the US so our last stop all together was Ganges Harbor, but that wasn’t why we were celebrating. This will be a two night stay and the first day was reprovisioning. Ganges is a great little town, with a grocery store, post office, bank, all the things you may need… and places to browse and shop of course. We finish the day with happy hour on the dock, in the shade of the boat. Boy it was a hot day and the cool evening breeze and shade was so welcome.

The second day, everyone did their own thing. Some were catching up on maintenance items, laundry, etc., others strolled through town, and several went swimming to cool off.

We had some very special visitors late in the day as a three boat fleet from the Canadian Navy arrived. These boats were so big and impressive. We learned it was a training fleet for the new Captains before they were moved to their own ships, much bigger ships!

Then it was time for celebration! Both David and Sheila, and Sue and Eric were married on the same day, in the same year and this was their anniversary date. To celebrate, we had a great dinner in town. As part of the entertainment, all five couples had to share how they met. It was hilarious how two people could have such different stories of the same event. There was much laughter.

As we were toasting the couples, another couple sitting next to us came over with their glasses raised sharing in the toast. At first we thought that was odd, but then learned, they too were married on the same date, the same year and had returned to Ganges, where they honeymooned, every year since - what a coincidence and great story. Happy 43 years to these 3 couples.

The only sad part of the evening was saying goodbye to Lisa and Tony.
