Refuge Cove

Our team split up. The Davids headed to Campbell River and Eric and Sue joined us as we headed north. We were all meeting up again at Octopus Islands in a few days. First stop for our team was at this wonderful little cove with plenty of room on the dock, a small well stocked store (although the ice cream was gone for the season), a fuel dock, and nice laundry facilities. They also had a clothing and Yeti store… lots of Yeti stuff - who knew.

This beauty pulled up next to us on the dock and it was a very experienced captain at the helm to get her in as she was on the land side of the dock. Several people came to help to keep her off the corner of the dock as she made the turn and she made it with inches to spare.

All marinas now charge to take your garbage, if they take it all, but this was a first. This was the garbage barge across the bay. The cost is $5.00 a pound and the older gentleman has made a business out of collecting your garbage. The cost was a bit steep, based on other places, but we gladly paid it - we don’t want to haul our garbage around. Unfortunately, the barge is only open for about 7 hours a day and people will just drop off their bags and not pay for them. It is a sad money losing proposition.

Route Melanie Cove to Grace Harbor (one night stop) and then north to Refuge Cove.
