The night train
After our previous experiences with the local trains, we were a bit skeptical of the night train. So we were very surprised how nice it was. This was a 12 hour overnight trip from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. The train was clean, quiet, smooth, air conditioned, and the beds were very comfortable. The upper bunk folded down and the two seats made into the lower bunk. There were curtains for privacy, but we found it was better to leave them open a bit at each end for airflow. A peaceful great nights sleep!
