We were excited to see the canyon and headed out early. It was a bit chilly and found there was still snow on the ground in places but it was a short drive to the park.
This place was absolutely stunning. You can’t help but see Gods majesty in this magnificent beauty. It was breath taking. Have I told you how much I love red rock!
Keith found a moderate hike - The Queens Garden and Navajo Trail - which is a loop that goes down in the canyon and back out again. These formations are called Whoo-Doo’s. We learned the Indians would not go down into this canyon as they believed they would be turned into a Whoo-Doo.
From the east, it’s two miles down on a gently sloping path with plenty to see along the way.
Several tunnels to pass through.
Stunning beauty everywhere you looked.
Then it is about another two miles across the bottom of the canyon before you start the climb back up.
We weren’t quite prepared for the intense hike back up the other side on switchbacks. You had to rest at almost every switchback and it wasn’t so cool out anymore. We made one major mistake on this trip. During the switching of backpacks in the truck, we inadvertantly left the water bottle behind. So, we were careful not to overdo the hike back out and were very glad to get some liquids on board at the top.
