Wrapping Up & Heading South-2024

We had just two weeks in Chattaory and had several tasks we wanted to finish. Instead, we got Covid and plans changed. Keith got it first and the worst. After four days, he started taking Paxlovid but it took several more days before he started to feel better. It took almost another week to get his energy back and have no symptoms. On his day five, I woke with symptoms and got on Paxlovid immediately. Two days later, my symptoms were gone and I tested negative. Whew! Just in time as we had an important event to attend before heading south.

This was Noah's first year playing an instrument - the trombone - and he was in the High School marching band. This was their first game and a must see. (For all you older folks out there, what a culture shock to be around so many teenagers again! How times have changed.) The half time show with the band was awesome. Sadly, they lost the game, but it was so fun to see Noah thrive in his new efforts.

Ryker is taking after his older brother, learning to play the trumpet. He had to find a quiet place to practice... and the dumpster worked! He didn't know we were watching... so precious!

Our last morning, I took one more opportunity to walk the kids to the bus stop and have a quick morning prayer. Although I don’t do it every day, it was a great tradition the kids enjoyed. Because of the long driveway, they ride their bikes half way, stash them behind a tree and then walk the rest of the way to the bus stop. I however, start early and meet them at the bike drop. It is so fun when they come around the corner and see me at the tree... then the race is on. They wanted me to come every day, but if I did, it would become ordinary and not special. The element of surprise is part of the fun and of being a grandparent.

This trip we decided to do different things than what we have done in the past. Our route was close to the same, but our activities changed.

First stop - we again stayed in Butte, Montana. Instead of going to the hot spring pool, we spent the evening with dear friends, Tim and Lisa. It was a great evening of catching up, telling stories and laughing at crazy adventures, both theirs and ours. The evening went by way to fast but we look forward to seeing them again with more stories to share.

Second stop was Tremonton, UT. This was a great spot we learned about last year and chose to stay again. On this stop, we decided to have dinner at the bbq place at the entrance to the park. Wow, it was yummy and we had plenty of leftovers for the following night. We may have to do that one again.

Third stop was Moab - it felt like coming home - we love Moab.
