Cozumel-snorkling
My favorite dive shop is “Deep Blue” and we were pleased to find they were still in business. An afternoon spot was available for snorkling as most of the cruise ship guests can’t be out that late. We scheduled a 4 hour trip when the waters weren’t quite so busy. This allowed us to take the whole morning and lounge around and do piddly stuff at home. It’s nice to not feel rushed. We’re beginning to feel like we’re retired.
We meet up with the boat at the marina and snorkled 3 different spots along the reefs on the west side of the island. Due to the currents, most dive and snorkle trips are drift only. This makes it very relaxing and you don’t need to be a strong swimmer. The boat drifts with you and picks you up when the group is ready. But don’t be fooled, you expend a lot of energy moving around in the water and we slept soundly that night.
It is always fun to see an environment you don’t encounter every day. Lots of vibrant colored fish, turtles, baracuda, and of course all the corals are a sight to behold. The reefs are diminishing, but they are still very beautiful.
