Hot Springs & Hot Tubs
Keith had his day of pheasant hunting with friend Brad and it was time to head to Arizona. The RV port looks so empty with just the car in it but we were all packed and ready to go. To avoid the major snowy passes, our plan was travel east to I-15 and then south down the east side of Montana, Idaho, Utah, ending up in Arizona. We only wanted to drive 4-6 hours a day and find either a hot spring or hot tub at every stop! We were in no hurry.
We were a bit late in the season to make this journey and sure enough, there was snow in the passes. Our first stop was Fairmont Hotsprings, Butte, MT. As we arrive, there were high winds but we didn’t know it. The truck was so stable towing the big rig, we didn’t even feel the winds until we got out of the truck. It was just an over night stay, so everything stayed hooked up. We connect up to power and water, grabbed our bathing suites and walked over to the hotsprings. OH, that felt so good. It was very cold outside, but the water was 105 degrees and felt amazing. The next morning, we woke up to snow on the ground and a storm coming in from the northwest. We quickly grabbed coffee and were on the road, heading south about 30 minutes ahead of the storm front.
Next stop was Belmont Hotsprings, Plymouth, UT. It was a small RV park with mostly full-timers. It wasn’t too far off the freeway and we had called ahead to make sure there was room for a big rig. The hot springs were outdoor pools down a hillside from the actual park. When we arrived, the proprietor put us down on the road next to the hotsprings where we had power only. It was a perfect spot as we didn’t need water or septic so we got to stay for free. The day was gorgeous and sunny as we settled in and walked over to the hotsprings for a soak. The hot water was bubbling up in the middle and it was so fun. We were all by ourselves until Vicki came down for a short soak. We learned she has been fighting cancer and can no longer fight it as her body has rejected the treatments. She decided to simplify and moved into a 5th wheel to enjoy the hotsprings every day and is living fully until our Father calls her home. It was a treat to meet her and learn her story.
Next morning came with a dusting of snow and steam everywhere from the springs all around us. This was our view with only a few RVs in storage. It was quiet and a perfect landing.
Next stop was Moab, Utah and we could hardly wait. We had spent much time here with our quads in the past and were really looking forward to riding trails on 2 wheels instead of 4. We found a beautiful RV park just outside of town and the view was amazing. We were there for 3 days and it felt good to settle and not have to travel every day. After arriving and getting set up, it was too late in the day to ride so guess what…
…we hit the hot tub.
