Let’s Get Wet

What would be better on a hot sunny afternoon than running the Colorado River on a raft. We debated if we should do it in a kayak, but opted for the raft and were so glad we did.

The tour group picked us up at our RV park and we headed 10+ miles up the river to this great little spot. They provided lunch, which was delicious, and then we loaded up the rafts. These are normally a class 2 rapids but the water is so low, it was just a great ride.

If you look closely, you'll see his clothes are moist. He wanted to get his feet wet, and oops, in he went. Our guide was going to let him swim but it was a bit too cold so back in the boat he came. I was cracking up!!!

This is our guide, “River Jesus”. His real name is Paul and he was amazing. He had great stories of the area and of his life story. He is highly educated, extremely smart, and after Covid made changes to his professional life, he chose to fill his time taking people out on rafting tours, hoping that someday, he can get back into his selected profession. I know there is a God who is concerned about every part of our life. As Paul is telling his story, what he doesn’t know is, sitting right next to him, is the President of a company that does the exact work he is trained for. They exchanged information and you could see the joy on Pauls face. I teased him about his nickname … there are never coincidences.

You’ll notice in the video there are five people sitting in the back… they didn’t want to get wet. The problem was, there were so many of them, the boat sat low in the water, and everytime we hit moving water, they got wet. We offered to have them come up front and join us, but they declined. We all had fun laughs and squeels when we went through turbulent water.

During the many conversations of the afternoon, we realized one of the couples was from Washington, currently living in Tucson, with a home in Mexico. We had a great time sharing stories and exchanged info so we could stay in touch when we all get back to Arizona. You know what I say about friends!

On the hill just above the river was a herd of Big Horn Sheep. Look closely and you'll see the two males standing guard, watching us.
