Roche Harbor, July 4th

A special treat was sharing the 4th with great friends Billie and Craig. We have spent many days with them in the Carribean on boats and it was fun to be on the water again, a little closer to home. They arrived midday and found a spot to anchor close to us. We enjoyed the afternoon and a yummy dinner together.

Billie loves her wine 😳 - actually, she was just finishing the last swig of the bottle and I couldn’t resist a quick pic 😍.

We spent the whole day of the 4th on land watching all the activities, laughing, eating and just being a part of the ‘Roche Scene’.

The UW Alumni & Student Marching Band. This was a challenge as our friends are die-hard Cougars. They graciously suffered through.

Note: We passed on watching the donut eating contest - that just gets too gross!

The Keith Highlanders Bagpipe Band (yes, that was really their name). They were very good.

The Blindfolded Dingy Race. There were so many boats, it was just hilarious. This team ended up the winner and they were very good together. The rower is blind folded, the caller is telling them which way to row and they can’t touch each other. It’s hysterical to watch.

The Log Roll … This went on for hours as there are were so many kids 🫨. The three age groups were 5-9, 10-14, 15 and above. The winner in all three groups were girls and this little gal won both the 5-9 and 10-14 groups - go girl power. Our reservations for the Madrona Grill came up during the last age group so we didn’t get to see the finish, but we could hear all the hoop-la and cheers.

To top off a fun day, fireworks! As always, it was a spectacular show. Even with a mid evening nap, the horn honking went on for way to long following the finale 😵‍💫.
