Telegraph Harbor Marina

We arrived at Telegraph Harbor Marina in 20+ mph winds and were grateful we had reservations. Everyone was trying to find a safe place to land. It was crazy busy and the staff were so patient and got everyone in without incident, even on a minus tide. After we were settled, we found pleasure in the wind to cool us - it was so hot - 92 degrees in the main cabin with all the windows open.

Happy hour on the dock and the large boat next to us became a shade! It was a nice end to the day as we were feeling the fatigue from all the busyness of the previous days.

Guess who blew into the harbor as well, Doug and Suedelle, friends we met last year in Desolation Sound. We were looking forward to catching up this season and here we were. They are such fun and we enjoyed our evening together. It felt like it had only been a day, not a year, since we’d first met. This time we made plans to catch up in the off season in our warm winter destinations.

The wind continued much longer than expected, so our one day stay turned into three. The marina staff were so kind and there was plenty of room to just stay put as other boats with reservations couldn’t get to them. The only boats moving about were sailboats and sure enough, Bob and BettyAnn blew in.

It was recommended to get the local pizza. It was much too hot to cook so we ordered two, expecting leftovers. One was very good, the other not so much 😔.

The down time was much appreciated as we played games, took several walks around the island, picked yummy blackberries, jumped into the water on the hot afternoons, enjoyed good food, good company, music on the dock, and a dingy ride through the cut to Clam Bay. Most important was the ice cream cone 🍦 every now and then.
