We are now back to the carribean on the southwest side of the Yucatan Peninsula. We found a charming little town bordering a long, narrow, and stunningly beautiful lake and are here to explore.
It is said there are 7 colors to the water, due to the depths, and it is true, from baby blue to almost black. The shoreline is so shallow you can easily walk out 150 yards and it doesn’t get deeper than 6 feet. The water is warm and the beautiful white sand is soft on your feet. It is so relaxing, you often see people just standing - no need to do anything else but enjoy the warm water and sun on your body.
This is a picture of one of the many parks along the shore. It was our first day out, Sunday - family day, and everyone was enjoying themselves.
There are a multitude of excursion boats to take you out to see the sites and drop you off for a swim. There are also kayaks and jet skis but the lake is so large, you don’t feel crowded with all the water crafts.
Three open cenotes feed the lake and as you can imagine, they are very deep and easy to spot as their water is almost black.
