Grand Canyon
Time to leave Sadona and head west to the Grand Canyon. Our destination is the south rim. I had never been and Keith had so he planned the course.
First stop was the Desert Tower but it is now closed so we could only go into the gift shop. This is the view and it was so big! It was also so cold, as you can see with snow on the ground.
Our next stop was the Shoshone Trail. A good mile hike back to the rim was recommended to us from our Pink Jeep driver and it was a great recommendation. There were only a few cars in the parking area, unlike the other more popular trails where the parking areas were full and overflowing onto the street.
At the end of Shoshone Trail, there is a long point where you can walk out on and see 270 degrees.
But the view wasn’t the only treat we got. On our way to the rim, we encountered a large herd of elk. The bull took off in front of us into the woods but there were approximlately 30 cows milling about. We walked quietly and slowly as they grazed and watched us. Some were only 15-20 feet away from the road. It was magical and we felt so blessed.
