Just plain fun!

We are settled in and it was time to explore and create some fun.

We headed south to the Tucson area to visit Holly and David and they taught us how to play Pickle Ball. Oh my goodness, that was so much fun, even if Holly and Keith did win 2 out of 3 games (but only by 2 points). They live in an amazing community nestled in a canyon and their winter home was beautiful.

Next on the agenda was some golf and we started with a local community course. The course was very flat and we had a great game but the 12th hole was the best. It was a par 3 and Keith hits first. As I watch the ball, I can see it is on the green and then it disappears. I think to myself - that may be a hole in 1 but I decide not to say anything yet. As we approach the green and I still don’t see it, I tell him - he scoofs. He goes searching for his ball and I told him he should check the cup first. Again he scoffs but goes over to look…. the look on his face and how high he jumped off the ground was so fun to watch. I wish I had my video running!

A HOLE IN ONE - his first ever!

We also found another fun past time at the clubhouse, shooting pool. We put the laundry in, go play a couple of games and then finish laundry. I’m not good, not bad either but Keith typically wins. I decided to go play by myself to practice. The next time we played, I won all 3 games and he was a little surprised … ‘just a lucky shot’ and then I’d remind him of the hole in 1 and we’d laugh.

Scott and Kristi also have a home southwest of Phoenix and we got to spend a day with them. We put on our swimming suits and laid by the pool almost all day. The boys took off for a local tour giving us some girl time. It was so relaxing and fun.

A friend of the Flewelling family from 50 years ago is also in the Phoenix area. I had connected with Shirley on facebook and we scheduled an evening out together. What you do talk about after 50 years - everything! We had a fabulous dinner at a local golf resort and just talked away the evening. It was so fun to reconnect and while I did most of the listening, it was great hearing all the stories from their past.

It was time for the truck to go into the shop for maintenance. It will take a couple of days so we get a loaner car.

Yup, a cherry red Dodge Challenger, with a Hemi! What do you do with a muscle car - take a road trip!
