Take a Chef

I have been so excited for this event. Normally, I would put this on the Foodie Fan page, but this was such a special event, I want to share it here. We ordered a chef to come to our home and make us an authentic mexican meal. We opted for a breakfast instead of a dinner, as we just don’t eat much in the evenings. What a great plan that turned out to be.

Adrien is a local chef who owns his own restaurant near the center of town. He has a degree in culinary arts and has been cooking professionally for 10 years. He arrived at 8:00 with everything he needed and the cooking began.

A typical first course is a fruit platter with yogurt, nuts, and raisins, fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee. It was delicious and there was enough leftover for munching on later.

Our menu of choice was chicken verde enchiladas, which, to my surprise, is a typical breakfast item. I was excited to watch and take notes as Adrien cooked and chatted. The tomatillo sauce was first up and the rest was built from there. I love pablano and serrano chili so this was an extra treat.

Before you knew it, the food was ready and plated and it was time to dig in. For the first time in my life, I ate slowly, wanting to savor every bite. It was a very full plate of food, much more than we could eat in one setting and are already looking forward to leftovers tomorrow morning. Our last item was dessert, a sweetened brioche bread with another cup of coffee. We were stuffed.

This was an amazing experience and one I would highly recommend. Adrien’s english was good enough that we could communicate easily and when we couldn’t we had our translation apps. It was so fun!

I took copious notes and hope I can replicate this again when we get home. Any takers?
