Time to go

We spent several months preparing, including the purchase of backpacking packs - no suitcases allowed. We wanted everything on our back so it was easy to get around. We also wanted to travel light and a backpack forces us to go minimally. Life with just a backpack and a daypack. We are staying in Airbnb’s and several provide laundry services in the unit so that is a plus.

Because this was a new country for both of us, we were extra cautious to bring things that are unknown, like various medications, bug spray, electrical plug adapters, etc. That added to the weight more than expected, but we’re glad we brought them.

Traveling across the international dateline is very interesting. We traveled over 24 hours and lost a day - leaving on Monday and arriving on Wednesday. But we’ll get it back when we return home. 😀
