Heading North

Our time in Tucson this season has come to an end and it is time to head north. Our ‘home on wheels’ was all packed and ready to go! Wow, we were much lighter than our last trip, as many of our belongings now live in a house.

We are about half way to our first destination when we pull off at an exit to take a quick break. As Keith walks around the trailer to check everything (which he does at every stop), he finds the most unique animal tucked in the weeds. Yes, it is a turtle, but he’s not alive, he’s made of concrete. We were puzzled, trying to figure out why he was placed there, in the middle of no-where …. maybe it’s a geo-cache and we could be rich!

We continue on to our first stop, an overnight in Flagstaff, AZ at Black Barts RV Park. It has easy access on/off the freeway and a fueling station across the street. The buildings look like an old western town, one of which is a steakhouse. We were ready for someone else to do the cooking, so we made reservations. Boy, were we in for a surprise.

To my absolute delight, this was not just any steakhouse, it was a theater with singing waiters. It is fair to say this was not Keith’s ‘delight’ but thankfully, we had already ordered dinner. I had such a great time, singing along with many of the show tune songs. On the opposite side of the dining area was a full stage with tables and chairs for local productions. What a find and we didn’t even know this existed. (I’m pretty sure Keith is looking for a new RV park for our next trip).
