Lower Calf Creek Falls

Lower Calf Creek Falls is a three mile, one way, hike over sand, rocks, and small cliffs. After a minor fall coming down the mountain at Zion, I invested in walking sticks and was so grateful. The sand was hard to walk in for long periods of time. It took us two hours to hike in and 1.5 hours hiking out. A yummy dinner was waiting.

This hike had eighteen features to watch for along the trail, and all were clearly marked. This was a highlight.

Spring is so beautiful in the desert!

And this was our reward - so worth it!!! On our way home, we stopped off in a little town called Escalante and had the best pizza, made with homemade sourdough bread. We got there early and only had to wait thirty minutes. We were told some waits are over an hour, just to order. Now we know why.
